instantbird support

coffeekingms@hotmail.com
hi all

I'm just now getting back into irc after a few weeks of not connecting.
NVDA seems to work fine with instantbird as it is, it automatically
reads incoming chats, but only if you're focused on the window. In
addition, it's a little tricky to focus on the input area for typing.
This isn't a complaint, but just wondering if there's an add on for
instantbird available, or if not, if anyone would be willing to add an
app module for it? It also supports other protocols, like facebook and
twitter, and I think skype, probably text only, but it's basically
pidgin for windows, but accessible. If anyone needs more info, don't
hesitate to ask, and I'll provide it if I can. I'd like to join the NVDA
irc channel as well as my usual linux channels so I can start fulfilling
my new years resolution.

Thanks

Kendell Clark

I'd argue this is reasonable behaviour: sighted users don't see chats when they're not in the window either. Note that Instantbird will make a sound if someone mentions or messages you.

If you hit f6 to move to the tab control, you can just start typing and it'll throw you into the input area.

Not that I know of. I use Instantbird daily myself without one.

hi

Doh, I feel stupid. I just figured out that you can just start typing, and it throws you into the area. As for automatically reading chats, this is anice to have but not a big deal. I can easily live with it. It's so nice to have a multi protocol program again. That's one thing I missed when I was in windows.

Thanks
