NVDA causing major lag when alt-tabbing

Brandon Keith Biggs
Hello,
See a video of me showing the bug at:

The NVDA log is below.

What is happening is after the computer has been on for a while, the alt-tab combo becomes super slow. moving between apps and the desktop takes anywhere from 2-30 seconds. I am on a windows 10 64 Bit using NVDA 2017.1. My PC has 16 GB ram and an I7 processor. After restarting the computer, the problem goes away for a while, but it always comes back. I thought it was a memory leek, but task manager says everything is fine. Any other ideas?
Thanks,

Re: NVDA causing major lag when alt-tabbing

James Teh
When this occurs, does restarting NVDA fix the issue? Is alt+tab also slow to respond with Narrator? Have you tried with all NVDA add-ons disabled?

Hello,
Yes, this still happens after restarting NVDA. No, Jaws doesn't seem to have any problems and when NVDA is off things are very fast. I will try with addons disabled next time. I forgot this time.
Thank you,

Hello,
To my knowledge Skype is not running. I never use Skype except on rare occasions.
Thanks,

What is happening is after the computer has been on for a while, the alt-tab combo becomes super slow. moving between apps and the desktop takes anywhere from 2-30 seconds. I am on a windows 10 64 Bit using NVDA 2017.1. My PC has 16 GB ram and an I7 processor. After restarting the computer, the problem goes away for a while, but it always comes back. I thought it was a memory leek, but task manager says everything is fine. Any other ideas?

Re: NVDA causing major lag when alt-tabbing

James Teh
Please test with Narrator as requested. It's possible JAWS somehow accesses the information in a different way, whereas Narrator will be using UI Automation as NVDA does for the alt+tab list. Testing with Narrator will give us some idea as to whether UI Automation is the culprit.

Yes Desktop or probably any Skype seems to slow things down even when its
not supposed to be active. I ditched it in 7 long ago. I'd have thought they
might have it sussed for 10 though, by now.
