NVDA and the rich text edit fields in jira and confluence

Heiko Folkerts-4
Hi all,
I've been struggling with the edit fields like comments in jira or the contents of pages in confluence. I'll have to work with theese tools daily and so far it seems hard to any formatting of new text. AFAIK the NVDA development infrastrucutre uses theese tools itself. Is this correct?

I have read alot about bugs in firefox that don't get fixed so I wonder in what practical stateare rich text edit controls with firefox and NVDA? AFAIK I can only use formatting such as bold when knowning the hotkeys like Ctrl+b and using them when typing. Is there some different way to edit/format especially in jira or confluence?

No.
NVDA uses github.
How does this script work (Grease monkey)? I used this software with my company last year, and it might help although that was an older version of Gira, so if it doesn't I couldn't get you headings again without remoting into your machine. It was pretty much fine, but I think you use markdown. You can use bold and stuff, but you'd need to get the keyboard help.

To use this go get grease monkey. Then, change // @include https://bugs.org/* to your companies gira instance website.

Hi Derek,

thanks for the info and for the script. Though I don’t know much about javascript the comments within the script explained many things to me. So I’ll go get greasy monkey and try to make it run. If changes are needed I’ll post them back on this list to help others that need to use jira as well.

Heiko
