Just noticed that braille display does not work when on secured desktop

Michel Such
Hi,

Just saw that, when mressing windows+l to get to secured desktop, the
braille display does not work.

I tried with a Seika 40 display.

I run the latest next release and also tried with 2017.1.

As I never noticed it before, I don't know if it is a recent problem or
if it always was there.

I have a feeling this is a driver bug.

Re: Just noticed that braille display does not work when on secured desktop

Well, maybe.

I have tried with two displays:

- Aseika which driver is integrated to NVDA

- An Eurobraille Esys which uses a third party driver which may be buggy.

both don't work on secured desktop.

What exactly happens is that they display the first thing that appears on secured desktop, and then the displayed content does not change anymore.

If you open the General settings dialog and choose "Use currently saved
settings on the logon and other secure screens, does the problem persist?

Rui Fontes
I have tried that with a Focus 40 Blue, copying the user configs to secure
screens, and it works in all secure environments, according to user
feedback...

Re: Just noticed that braille display does not work when on secured desktop

James Teh
This occurs because the main copy of NVDA still is still connected to the display, so the secure copy can't connect. The obvious solution is to have the normal copy disconnect, but this isn't enough because of timing; the secure copy may try to connect either before the normal copy realises it should disconnect or before the main copy has fully disconnected. I think there's an issue filed somewhere for this.
