Apple TTS for NVDA released!

rob
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1

Hello all,

I am happy to announce that after years of quite painful research, I
have ported Apple's TTS to Windows.
I do not wish to go into details, but this was a very lengthy process,
including careful reverse engineering of the Mac binaries,
disassembling the voice data, splitting it into phonemes, and
reassembling it under windows for your enjoyment!
I would like to thank all the people who were involved in this
project, especially April: the project would not have existed without
her dear help. April, you rock!
As always, m releases do not contain any virus, malware, trojan, April
Fool's jokes, or any other nonsense. This is one hunder per cent real
and working.
I will set up a paypal address for those of you whod like to donate in
the near future.

You can download it from the following link: http://onj.me/alextts

Have fun,
Rob

Hello,
A big question.  How legal is this?  It does not sound very legal at all.

Hello,
The voice seems to be quite buggy. It also talks as if everything was precorded.

Brian Gaff Lineone downstairs
In reply to this post by rob
No obviously not.
The problem is as with the last  thread its all a bit academic now the date
has passed. I think Apple only allowing this  project to work one day a year
is slightly restrictive but no doubt a hack will be introduced witch will
also  make Eloquence sound almost human as well.

In reply to this post by Trenton Matthews
Matthew,

Thank you very much for this Add-on. It is so great! But the voice doesn't
seem to be reading the dialog boxes correctly? Please is there any way of
fixing this?

Thanks.

Brendon Donohue. Great work!

Re: Apple TTS for NVDA released!

Brendon Charles Donohue
No,

The Add-On will start. But I can't move around dialog boxes and controls
such as check boxes are not reporting there statess on or off. Also it is
not reading out some controls in dialogs that I know that are there. It will
not also read out dialog boxes.

Thanks.

Brendon Donohue.

Re: Apple TTS for NVDA released!

Michel Such
Hi,

I tried it here.
All it does is saying "Apple" when arrowing thru a list and announce the
shortcut letter when in the NVDA menu.
Nevertheless, the voice is nice!

Hi,

I tried it here.
All it does is saying "Apple" when arrowing thru a list and announce the
shortcut letter when in the NVDA menu.
Nevertheless, the voice is nice!

Like the 40 minute add-on, I'm pretty sure this is an April Fools' joke,
though I can't actually be bothered downloading it to test. My guess is
that certain words have been sampled, so only those words can be spoken.
While I enjoy a good April Fools' joke, the day has past in all parts of
the world. If this isn't an April Fools' joke, creating a synth driver
like this is illegal anyway. Either way, it's time to drop this thread.
Thanks. :)
