Hi all. I've encountered this a couple of times now, both with the
Weather Plus and Windows 10 App Essentials addons. When my computer boots up and NVDA loads, if there's an update to one of these addons, a dialogue comes up asking if I want to download the update or informing me that there is one. This seems to stop NVDA from reacting to quite a lot, e.g. hitting NVDA-T to read the windows title does nothing, alt-tab doesn't read window titles, and so on. I know NVDA is loaded and working because if my wife uses the mouse it will read text she moves the mouse over. As soon as we dismiss the dialogue, NVDA works just fine, like it always does. This is on Windows 10 64-bit, both anniversary and creator's, with NVDA 2017.1, I just updated to 207.2 and haven't gotten any update messages yet. Is there a way around this? If not I don't know who would deal with fixing the issue but I figured I'd report it here. The only reason I found out what was happening is because my wife can see so I booted up when she got home the first time it happened. Otherwise, it would have been as though NVDA suddenly stopped working for no apparent reason, kind of disconcerting really. And of course even now that I know what's happening, it's kind of hit or miss to get to the right window and hit the right key combo, alt-O or alt-Y or whatever, to dismiss the dialogue. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Check out the vibrant tech community on one of the world's most engaging tech sites, Slashdot.org! http://sdm.link/slashdot _______________________________________________ Nvda-devel mailing list [hidden email] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/nvda-devel |
Hi,
Are there experiencing this issue with at least WinTenApps? If so, please do let me know as soon as possible. Okay, are you queuing your dialog in a wx.CallAfter, or queueHandler.queueFunction? 1 is prefered. I'd be curious to know because tip of the day had this problem, and it was dueue to the gugui being presented before NVDA was ready for it. To be fair, I don't think App Essentials causes the problem, although it
hasn't mentioned an update again since failing to download it when I first posted about it, so it's hard to be sure. I'll bet Weather Plus is doing the other way though. I know that definitely does it because it happened three or four times between two different machines. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Check out the vibrant tech community on one of the world's most engaging tech sites, Slashdot.org! http://sdm.link/slashdot _______________________________________________ Nvda-devel mailing list [hidden email] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/nvda-devel |
Hi,
So WinTenApps is failing to download updates? That's strange, because the latest snapshot right now is the june 13th snapshot, and the latest stable is 17.06.1. I'm apparently still on 17.05.1. Strange that it hasn't checked lately.
I was waiting for it to check before posting anything further about the issue. But looking at Weather Plus, assuming I'm reading the code right, it uses the right thing too. return wx.CallLater(100, wx.MessageBox, '%s %s.\r\n%s' % (_("An update is available for"), _addonSummary, _("Click on the Check for updates menu to download it.")), title, wx.ICON_INFORMATION) On 6/13/2017 13:47, Joseph Lee wrote: > Hi, > So WinTenApps is failing to download updates?
